Everything You Need to Know About NFC Technology and How It Functions

What are NFCs?

NFC stands for Near Field Communication, which is a short-range wireless technology that enables devices, such as smartphones, to communicate with each other when they are in close proximity, typically within a few centimeters. NFC technology is often used for contactless transactions, data transfer, and device pairing, making it useful for applications like mobile payments, access control, and sharing data between devices by simply bringing them close together. NFC technology opens doors to endless opportunities for seamless connectivity and innovation.

Do I need to activate the NFC reader on my device?

NFC is automatically activated for most compatible iOS devices. However, for older iPhone models, you’ll need to manually turn on the NFC reader in the Control Center. Most Android phones come with this feature activated. If not, try following these steps:

1.  Tap on “Settings”
2.  Select “Connected devices”
3.  Select “Connection preferences”
4.  Turn on the “NFC” and “Android Beam” options
