Welcome, Rachel Scott, Senior UX Designer!

We are so pleased to welcome Rachel Scott, Senior UX Designer, to the team. You can learn more about Rachel below.

Tell us about yourself. Where are you from?

I have been a multidisciplinary designer for 21 years with the last 4+ focused on UX/UI Design. I’ve worked as a designer in just about every industry including advertising, crypto, real estate, edtech, fintech, travel and tourism, outdoor, and digital marketing.

I am from Salt Lake City, Utah.

Where did you go to school?

I studied Graphic Design at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I also did an Art History study abroad course in London and I studied UX Design at V School in Utah.

How did you get into UX design? What areas of your field do you like to focus on?

UX Design seemed a natural transition for me given that design as a whole has shifted to embrace more tech practices.

I like to focus on understanding who the users are that I’m creating solutions for. What are their needs and goals and how can I achieve them through beautiful and intuitive design? Also, I absolutely love to be able to back up my work with solid data that I know will benefit my clients.

Do you have a code of ethics or a mantra that you live by when doing design work?

I always try to leave ego at the door and be open to feedback, especially when collaborating with other creatives. You never know what may happen when you get fresh eyes and a fresh perspective on a project!

How do our core values (collaboration, initiative, ingenuity) align with your own?

Collaboration is a big one for me. There is so much more potential for new ideas and solid work when people from different disciplines come together. Collaborating is also a good way to level up in skillset.

What do you want to learn in the next 12 months as a designer? What do you want to learn about the web development industry?

I want to continue to grow and be inspired as a designer and as a mentor. Additionally, I want to learn more about how I can leverage AI in the design sphere to help clients.

I have worked in the web dev industry before so I just want to continue to understand how I can best serve our clients who have chosen Buckeye.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love to travel and have been to 61 countries so far. I also love to ski, camp, hike, backpack, cycle, cook, and garden.

What is the one thing most people don’t know about you?

I’d say something that surprises people about me is that I love to cook and am pretty good at it.

We are always up for connecting with individuals to talk about working at Buckeye Innovation. If you think you’d be a good fit, please take a look at our careers page and reach out!
